Christmas Card 2012–Santa Claus is coming to town.

A time-lapse captured while I painted my Christmas card for 2012 in Photoshop.

During the Holidays, most of us go through a simulate routine of wandering aimlessly through a card shop or the card aisle of the local grocery store, looking through dozens of Christmas cards. I try to find cards that reflect my personality and sense of humor in both their look and what the say. Sometimes I find the perfect card for someone, but in recent years I find that most of the cards are have become blander with more mass-market appeal.

In October, my friend Brian asked me to photoshop together an image for a Christmas card that he could send out via Facebook that spotlighted his uniquely wild sense of humor. It was a fun side project to goof around with, but it made me want to create my own Christmas card suitable for printing.

Inspiration came in the form of Frank Frazetta's painting Silver Warrior. Santa takes the place of the warrior armed with a brutal candy cane as he travels through the arctic mountains readying himself for Christmas that looms just over the horizon.
